You might have been accused of being intimidating probably because people are not actually well informed about you or your life. Your past struggles have made your strong and tough attitude and even though others might not like it, you should never be bothered by it or feel sorry for who you are.
Your life was full of ups and downs in your personal life as well as in your career. All these experiences have made you a stronger and more independent person.
