by

Nowadays we are often so busy that we often don’t have enough time to spend with our partner. However, the couple of hours before going to sleep can be precious time if you know how to use it wisely. You can have deep, meaningful conversations or talk about your days. This will help strengthen your relationship. So, instead of worrying about the following day, try to make those hours as meaningful as possible. Here are 15 bedtime habits of happy couples.

1.Don’t bring your phones to bed

Even though your phone might be very important for your work, try to avoid looking at it when going to bed. Instead, focus on your partner and spend good time with them. Spending too much time on social media can have negative effects on your intimacy, so make sure you switch of your phones at 9 pm.

2. Don’t think about work

We all have problems at our workplace and we can’t change them if we keep worrying about them, especially when we are lying in bed. Avoid checking your email constantly, instead ask your partner about their day. You can share funny incidents or make future plans for a trip. This can help relax you both and you might sleep a lot better.

3. Happy couples go to bed together

Unless you work different shifts, it is important to go to bed together, especially if you don’t have enough time for each other during the day. You can also perform simple activities together like brushing your teeth or making the bed. This can help maintain the intimacy between the two of you.

4. Create a routine and stick to it

Think of a routine that you both will follow like fluffing up pillows, putting down curtains or making the bed which can help your mind prepare for bedtime. Also, doing this routine together with your partner will significantly improve your intimacy.

5. Have heart-to-heart conversations

Always pay attention to each other because it is essential to talk about your problems with a person you can trust and rely on. Your partner is the ideal person for that who will never be judgmental about you and will try to propose a solution to your problems.

6. Share your feelings

Couples usually discuss things they disagree with, however it is also important to express hopeful feelings and ideas. This will help both of you to look forward to the following day.

7. Demonstrate your love

No matter how hectic your day was, you should never let it disrupt your quality time with your partner. Try to let your partner know how much you love them and how much they mean to you. This simple acts of kindness can reignite the sparks and may strengthen your relationship a lot.

8. Don’t hit below the belt

Arguments and disagreements are normal in every relationship, as long as they are constructive. Avoid attacking you partner, not just physically but also verbally and never mention their failures or disappointments when you are having a heated argument. This damage might never be reversed.

9. Never fight before sleeping

Fighting before bedtime can have devastating effects on your relationship. You should never go to sleep angry, and no matter what the issue is, try to figure it out before going to sleep. Anger can also disrupt your sleep quality and you will probably wake up grumpy.

10. Keep your bedroom child free

Of course, your children should always be your priority, but as a couple you also need your privacy. Make sure your children have their own bed and only allow them to sleep with you if they are scared or sick. The bedroom should be your personal space and avoid creating the habit of having your children constantly in your bedroom.

11. Keep your bedroom pet free

It might seem illogical but it is very true. According to one research, more than half of the people who cuddle with their pets at night don’t get enough sleep. Also, pets can be very active during the night which can disrupt your sleep quality. So, make sure you have a separate bed for your pet and discipline them to use it.

12. Avoid drinking alcohol and smoking before bed

Even though there is a popular belief that a glass of wine at night might create a romantic atmosphere, it can actually reduce your sleep quality. Also, alcohol might cause snoring and smoking causes insomnia which can have adverse effects on your intimacy.

13. Give each other a nice massage

Light massages can help you relax, reduce anxiety and also improve your sleep quality. These advantages are even stronger if the massage is provided by someone you love as it can be very intimate and romantic, so take turns and enjoy.

14. Never use the breakup word

Unless you have strong reasons to break up, using this threat in every heated argument only to forget about it after you cool down is pointless and harmful. Also, lots of couples cuddle even if they are angry at each other, because it can help relieve the tension.

15. Sleep without conditions

You must never be condescending in love and a relationship. As the quote says “Love means never having to say you’re sorry”, it is actually very true. Going to bed even though you have a slight dispute, you should always know that the bond between you is so strong and without even being aware of it, you will wake up in each other’s arms.
