Nowadays, our lifestyles have become so fast and busy that we often forget about our partner and our relationship. Relationships need constant care and nurturing in order to grow and improve. They also require more time and devotion and finding the right person is not enough, we should work on our relationship every day.
Lots of couples who are in long term relationships feel that they don’t have enough time for their partner during the day. That is why they decided to spend more time during the night especially before bedtime. They claim that this time is the best spent with their partner and it helps make the relationship stronger.
Here are some of the things healthy couples do before going to bed that helps their relationships get stronger and happier.
1.Don’t bring stress and worries in the bedroom
Studies have shown that couples who don’t talk about financial issues or their stressful work before bed are much happier and more intimate. This is not surprising because we can never relax if we talk about stress. However, this doesn’t mean that you should not pay attention to how your partner feels and to avoid asking about their day. It just means you should have these serious conversations someplace else, not in the bedroom.
2.Never keep an argument unresolved
You have probably heard that you should never go to bed angry. However, this doesn’t mean you should stop in the middle of an argument and just go to sleep. The anger will become bigger and bigger and sooner or later it will cause emotional eruption which can seriously affect your relationship.
3.No electronic devices in the bedroom
Try to keep your bedroom free from phones, TV, laptop etc. and you will soon notice the improvement. Getting rid of these distractions will help you focus more on your partner.
4.Try to go to sleep together
This may seem unusual, but falling asleep with your loved one at the same time provides comfort. If you can synchronize your schedules, try to go to bed together as often as possible.
5.Don’t forget to give each other compliments
Couples in long term relationships claim that sharing compliments with their partner before going to bed has enormous impact on strengthening the relationship. Tell your partner how much you love them and that you appreciate having them in your life. You don’t always have to prepare a special speech, just be honest and speak from your heart.
6.Create your own bedtime routine
You can do anything you both enjoy. Try to find something that you will both look forward to and you will feel excited the entire day.
7.Don’t forget to talk to each other
Sometimes you might not even have the chance to see your partner during the day let alone have the opportunity to talk. However, you always have bedtime and you can have deep and meaningful conversations just before falling asleep.
8.Sometimes all you need is a cuddle
Words are often not enough and a simple cuddle can be more powerful. Physical intimacy and romance can help you both feel better and your relationship will strengthen.
9.Avoid arguing before bedtime
Try to avoid topics that may lead to a heated argument before bedtime. Postpone them for the next day.
10.No drinking or smoking in the bedroom
Scientists have confirmed that these two habits have negative effects on your sleeping pattern and can affect your sleep quality. Try to avoid them if you want to wake up well rested and feeling good.
